Professor Peter Siyan is a Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics, University of Abuja.  He has previously held various leadership positions in the University of Abuja. Among these are: Member, University Governing Council; Head, Department of Economics. Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences; Director, Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education; Member, University Management; Member; Committee of Deans and Directors; His research interests and consultancy experiences include microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis, leadership, poverty reduction, employment issues, human resource economics, transportation and safety.

He has participated in following activities: Membership of the board of studies of the centre for Gender Security Studies and Advancement (2006 – 2007); Member, Nigerian Economic Submit Group (NESG) Infrastructure Policy Commission; Member, Technical Committee on TB Prevalence Survey sponsored by WHO and the Federal Ministry of Health (2008); Consultant for Joint Research between the Federal Road Safety Commission and Geo-Trans Associates & UNILAG Consult Ltd. (2008); Chairman, Sensation Programme on Draft National Tax Policy, Tuesday 12th August, 2008 F.C.T, Abuja.

He is a member, Nigerian Economic Society; Member, Association of African Universities; Member, The Royal Economic Society of the UK and Member, African Council for Distance Education (ACDE). He has served as a Consultant to the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). On National assignment, he worked as the Economic Adviser to former Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Olubunmi Etteh from November 2010 to May 2011. He has lectured in the university system for more than two decades and has numerous articles in high impact and indexed journals He has rendered editorial services to various academic journals and served as external examiner to many Nigerian Universities.

He also served as a resource person for many organizations. Among are: Central Bank of Nigeria Monetary Policy Committee, National Defence College, Federal Road Safety Commission, The State Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR) and National Planning Commission among others.
